Become a Volunteer

There are a number of tasks that volunteers can do in the Cemetery;

'Conservation Volunteers' work in the Cemetery doing such things as clearing graves of ivy, cutting back trees and shrubs which have encroached on graves etc.

Plotting the positions of grave markers, taking photographs and transcribing inscriptions are other activities volunteers can undertake in the cemeteries.

The cemeteries are also great areas of varied Flora and Fauna, so a volunteer to record this and advise on the best way to maintain the balance. see more details.

Although we are a new group in 2017, there are a number of other activities we would like to undertake with the aid of willing volunteers; such as, transcribing the minutes of the Burial Boards, obtain copies of advertisement associated with buried business men, transcribe family reports in the local newspapers, transcribe street directories so these can be offered on our website, etc.

There are also a number of 'administration' roles available; someone to carry out publicity and interface with other local groups. Someone to pull together a Friends Newsletter. Someone to fund raise or seek donations of material from local businesses to help us carry out our work.

If you are able to help, or have other suggestions of what we could, complete the Expression of Interest form.
