IWCP - 2 February 1901 - Newport - OBITUARY. - We regret to record the death of Mr. William Martin Geake, who passed away, after a somewhat short illness, at his residence at Fairlee-cottages, yesterday (Friday), at the age of 31. The deceased was a fitter at the Railway-works and was a much esteemed employee. He was formerly a well-known contributor to local entertainments, being a clever clog dancer, and he was a member of the old snowdrop Minstrels at Newport. As a cricketer he was also well known throughout the Island, being an excellent bowler. Last season he rendered splendid service for the Rookwood Club, and he used frequently to assist the Newport Club. The deepest sympathy is felt for the widow.
