IWCP - 22 November 1952 - Newport - Former Parish Church Verger. - The death occurred on Sunday at the home of his daughter, at 33 Fairlee Road, of Mr. Walter William Odell, aged 77. Mr. Odell, a native of the Island, was for many years a saddler at Messrs. Urry's in Pyle Street. For a time he was the esteemed verger at St. Thomas's Church. His hobby was painting and he sold many pictures before the war. Mr. Odell had lived in Clifford Street until the death of his wife, when he came to live with his daughter. The funeral was on Thursday at St. Thomas's Church.
