Hampshire Independent - 24 April 1869 - NEWPORT - SUDDEN DEATH OF A TOWN COUNCILLOR. - We regret to have to record the death of Mr. Thomas Milton Tullidge, draper, of St. Thomas's-square, which sad event took place very suddenly yesterday (Friday) morning. For some weeks past Mr. Tullidge had suffered from physical and mental prostration, and at the advice of his medical attendant he removed a short time since to the healthy locality of Stapler's. A speedy restoration to health was there anticipated, but the hopes of his friends unfortunately proved delusive. We are informed that Mr. Tullidge was in the act of getting up yesterday morning when he was stricken with apoplexy and fell back dead. Mr. Tullidge, who was in the prime of life, was a Town Councillor for the South Ward, and the announcement of his death will be received with sincere regret by a large circle of friends.
