IWCP - 31 July 1943 - VENTNOR - Death of Mr. Black. - The death took place on Thursday week of Mr. Albert Edward Black, of Albemarle, Gills Cliff-road, after a painful illness. He was about 74 years of age. Some eight years ago Mr. Black, who was a native of Newport, established a chemist's business opposite the Lowther Post Office, which has been a great benefit and convenience to the community. Before his illness Mr. Black took a keen and active interest in the Lowtherville Social Club, of which he was president. - Mr. A. E. Black - was buried at Carisbrooke on Tuesday.
The Vicar of Carisbrooke (the Rev. H. Ewbank, R.D.) officiated and the mourners were Miss Dorothy Black, Mrs. Berg, and Mrs. Steed (daughters), Mr. and Mrs. R. Morris (daughter and son-in-law), Messrs. J. Black and E. W. Black (brothers), Miss Fanny Black (sister), Mr. W. C. Black (cousin), Mrs. Lansley, Miss W. Pitman, Miss D. Black, Mrs. Early, and Mrs. Denton (nieces), and Mr. Frederick Black and Mr. Mendl Willstead (nephews). Mr. W. Steele represented the Lowtherville Social Club.
