Hampshire Independent - 25 February 1882 - DEATH OF MR. JOHN AIRS. - A well-known inhabitant of Newport has passed away in the person of Mr. John Airs, of Upper St. James's-street. The deceased had been seriously ill for some days, but his friends were not prepared for so sudden an issue as that which occurred last Tuesday, when there seemed some slight improvement in the sufferer's condition, and he was downstairs, seated in his chair by the window. Then it was that the fatal seizure came with alarming suddenness. The deceased was 64 years old.
