Isle of Wight County Press - 15 May 1886 - PARKHURST - FATAL RESULT OF A FALL. - A few weeks since a little boy, a sharp little fellow, son of Warder Stevens, of H.M. Convict Prison, met with an accident by falling down the stairs in the married quarters. Although much shaken, it was hoped that no other injury had been done, as the child did not at the time complain of pain. After a fortnight had elapsed, however, the poor little fellow became very unwell, and continually spoke of pains in the head. He was attended by Drs. Fonmartin and Price, who paid him every attention, but in spite of all that surgical aid could do, he became gradually worse until he expired on Saturday last, the cause of death being attributed to an abscess on the brain, the result of the fall before mentioned. Much sympathy is expressed for the parents, who are much respected by all the officials of the convict establishment.
