IWCP - 3 March 1880 - Newport - Obituary Notices. - With regret we have to record the death of Mr. James Wood, who expired at his residence on Tuesday last, at the age of 69 years. The deceased came to Newport 25 years ago, and was, up to within the last three years, the senior partner in the well-known firm of Messrs. J. and H. J. Wood, who succeeded to an already old-established business, which is now carried on by the deceased's son, Mr. Arthur Wood, in partnership with Mr. Eustace C. Horspool. Though the deceased never prominently identified himself with public matters, he was well-known throughout the Island, and he commanded the sincere respect of all who came in contact with him. ....
