IWCP - 3 March 1880 - Newport - Obituary Notices.....- Yesterday (Friday) another old and well-known inhabitant of Newport passed away in the person of Mr. George Knowles, landlord of the Bell Inn, and one of the oldest licensed victuallers in the town. For many years he attended, in the capacity of caterer, the farm sales conducted by Sir Francis Pittis and Son's firm, and his presence was familiar in all parts of the Island, his strict integrity and genial manners winning him friends wherever he went.
