Isle of Wight County Press - 29 April 1944 - NEWPORT - Veteran Postal Official's Death. - The death occurred on Wednesday at the County Hospital of Mr. Robert Hudson, of Sunnyside, Fairlee-road, aged 89. He spent 50 years in the postal service, and was an employee of the Magnetic Telegraph Company before the telegraph service of the country was taken over by the General Post Office. He spent most of his serving years at Stockton-on-Tees. He retired in 1919, and was for a time vicar's warden at St. Peter's, Havenstreet. The funeral takes place to-day (Saturday) in St. Paul's Church at 2.30 p.m.
