IWCP - 28 May 1949 - NEWPORT - Death of a Popular Resident. - Barton's village lost a popular resident on Thursday by the death of Mrs. Alice Maud Orchard, at 50 Barton Road, at the age of 81. Mrs. Orchard had lived all her life in the district, formerly at the Robin Hood Inn, where her husband, Mr. William Henry Orchard, was the licensee for 33 years. She was a member of the Oddfellows joining soon after the female lodge was formed. (Newspaper has wrong surname)
