Portsmouth Evening News - 19 October 1895 - A VOLUNTEER FUNERAL. - At Carisbrooke Vemetery, of Friday afternoon, the remains of Corporal Jacob Groves, a long service medal member of the Isle of Wight Volunteers, were laid away. Captain C. Sweetman was in charge of the local detachment present at the funeral, and Mr. Hatfield conducted the battalion band, which played the "Dead March" and sent a wreath.
