Portsmouth Evening News - 10 February 1883 - A BRUTAL HUSBAND. James Bray, labourer, was found guilty at the Liverpool Assizes yesterday of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon his wife, who had been rendered blinf and helpless through his violence. Mr. Justice Williams sentenced him to penal servitude for life.
