Isle of Wight County Press - 1 March 1913 - CARISBROOKE - NONAGENARIAN'S DEATH. - The death occurred at the residence of his son, Mr. Benjamin Locke, in the High-street, on Tuesday, of Mr. James Locke, who had attained the great age of 92 years. The deceased was a thatcher by calling, and for the greater part of his life worked in the Shorwell district, where he was very well known and greatly respected. His wife predeceased him some three years ago, after about 53 years of married life. The late Mr. Locke enjoyed good health up to within a few weeks of his death. The funeral took place yesterday (Friday) afternoon at Carisbrooke Cemetery, the Vicar (the Rev. W. J. Stobart) officiating. The family mourners were the deceased's two sons, Messrs. Benjamin and George Locke, Mrs. B. Locke (daughter-in-law), and Miss A. Locke (granddaughter).
