IWCP - 3 January 1920 - CARISBROOKE - DEATH OF MR. W. SMART. - An old and very esteemed resident passed away on Saturday in the person of Mr. William Smart, who had lived in the High-street for 30 years. The deceased, who was 55, was for many years engaged as a yacht chef. He had been in failing health since September. Much sympathy is felt with his widow and family. The funeral took place at Carisbrooke Cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev. T. Story Busher (vicar) officiating, and the mourners being Mr. Sidney Smart (son), the Misses Lena and Rhoda Smart (daughters), Mrs. F. Smart, (daughter-in-law), Mr. B. Sanders, C.C. (brother-in-law), and Mr. Frank King, of Newport.
