Isle of Wight County Press - 15 March 1930 - NEWPORT - THE DEATH - of Mr. Charles Payne, aged 87, occurred on Tuesday at 21 South-mall. He had had a happy married life of 67 years and his wife survives him. He was born in Newchurch, and had been employed as gardener at St. Dominic's Convent, by Mr. F. Fleming, of Marvel, and for 15 years by Mr. P. Jackman, of Shide. For the last 15 years he had lived with his nephew, Mr. G. Flux. The funeral will take place at 2.30 to-day (Saturday). The first part of the service will be at St. John's Church, conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. W. H. Mackinnon).
