Isle of Wight County Press - 20 April 1935 - NEWPORT - OBITUARY .. Mrs. Thompson, aged 69, who was the widow of Mr. A. W. Thompson, for many years in the employ of the late Mr. J. H. Linington, of St. James's-square, died on Friday week at Tyne House, Monkton-street, Ryde, where she had resided for some four years. The deceased, who was a Yorkshire woman and before her marriage was in the scholastic profession, conducted a private school for several years in Whitepit-lane. She was an active member of the Victoria Methodist Church, a member of the branch of the B.W.T.A., and always keenly interested in the affairs of the town. Her husband was a native of Wootton. Her only son, a solicitor, predeceased her. The funeral took place at Carisbrooke Cemetery on Tuesday, preceded by a service in the Garfield-road, Methodist Church, Ryde. The Rev. W. H. Fuller officiated.
