Isle of Wight County Press - 5 March 1938 - CARISBROOKE - Death. - The death occurred on Thursday at 2 Faulkner-cottages, Clatterford-road, at the age of 70, of Mr. James Simmonds, who until four years ago was well known as a market gardener at Spring Vale, Castle-street. He was a member of the local branch of the R.A.O.B., and some 30 years ago was a bellringer at Newport Parish Church. A widow, a son, and a daughter are left in bereavement. The funeral will take place on Monday ; service will be at Carisbrooke Parish Church at 2.30 p.m.
