Portsmouth Evening News - Thursday 10 November 1938 - Island Hanging Tragedy - Found hanging from a bedstead in an upstairs room at his home last night, suspended by a skipping rope, Herbert Whittington (30), single, a gardener of 20 Collingwood Road, Newport, was discovered to be dead when Dr. Heathcote arrived.
