Isle of Wight County Press - 5 October 1940 - NEWPORT - The Late Miss Eason. - The death occurred suddenly at the County Hospital on Friday week of Miss E. J. Eason, aged 68, of 66 Carisbrooke-road. The deceased lady was well known and much esteemed in the district. The funeral took place on Wednesday. The Rev. H. Ewbank (vicar of Carisbrooke) officiated. The chief mourners were Mr. A. Eason (brother), Mrs. A. Downer, Mrs. M. Butt, and Mrs. F. Russell (sisters), Mrs. A. Knibbs, Mrs. K. Stark, Mrs. C. Freeman, Miss H. Butt, and Mrs. F. Downer (nieces), Mrs. M. J. Wood (aunt), Mrs. A. Eason (sister-in-law), and Major F. Russell, Royal Marines (brother-in-law). Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Rose (sister and brother-in-law) were unable to attend owing to indisposition. There were a number of floral tributes.
