IWCP - 22 February 1941 - Newport - Fatal Collapse at Work. - Mr. Arthur Bevis, a single man, aged 62, living at 62 New-street, collapsed while at work at the Cement Mills on Monday afternoon. Artificial respiration was applied, a doctor called, and he was taken home in the works ambulance, but he never revived and was probably dead before he reached his house. He was wheeling a truck full of clinker when he collapsed. He had recently been medically attended for bronchitis. As far as is known he has no living relatives. No inquest was held, his medical attendant being able to certify that death was due to heart discease.
