Isle of Wight County Press - 12 April 1941 - NEWPORT - Centenarian Evacuee Dies. - Mrs. Jane Agnes Jakens, who as we announced a few weeks ago was evacuated from London, and was living with her daughter, Mrs. Andrews, at Top House, Parkhurst-road, died on Wednesday. She would have been 102 had she lived to June 1st. She had been bedridden since coming to Newport, but apart from her hearing she had wonderfully retained her faculties. Mrs. Jakens was an Irish woman, a native of Tipperary, but she had spent almost all her long life in Camberwell, London.
