IWCP - 13 January 1940 - NEWPORT - Seriously Injured by Circular Saw. – Austin Herbert Bennett, aged 63, a carter in the employ of Messrs. H. W. Morey and Sons, timber merchants, living in Castle-road, received serious injures through his neck coming in contact with a circular saw at the firm’s works on Saturday morning. Prompt first aid by other workers close at hand prevented him bleeding to death, and after attention by Doctors J. B. McKay and A. A. Heathcote he was taken to the Royal I.W. County Hospital, where an operation was at once performed. He has since been progressing favourably.
