IWCP - 29 December 1951 - PARKHURST - Retired Prison Officer's Death. - Mr. William John Hebdidge, of Kimbridge, Horsebridge Hill, who joined the prison service at Dartmoor in 1907, died at his home on Friday week, aged 75. Mr. Hebdidge was transferred to Camp Hill in November, 1912, and went to Parkhurst Prison in 1915 being promoted to principal officer in 1930. He retired in 1946. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. A. W. Ketelbey, of Rookstone, Egypt Hill, Cowes. The funeral took place on Monday at Carisbrooke Cemetery.
