Isle of Wight County Press 6 June 1953 - NEWPORT - The late Mr. J. Steane. - The funeral took place on Saturday of Mr. J. Steane, whose death occurred suddenly the previous Wednesday at his home at 43a St. James's Street. The service was held at the Victoria Methodist Church. The chief mourners were Mrs. J. Steane (widow), Mr. A. Radford, Mr. and Mrs. Medland, and Mr. and Mrs. Ward (sons-in-law and daughters), Mrs. C. Blunsom, Mr. J. Simmonds, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Dayton, and Mr. and Mrs. T. Simmonds. Mrs. Radford was unable to attend. Representatives attended from Messrs. J. S. White and Co. The interment followed at Carisbrooke Cemetery.
