IWCP - 13 February 1954 - "Died while watching billiards ...... sentenced to three years' penal servitude at Durham Assizes on October 27th, 1947, and an additional five years' preventative detention were imposed. .. no known relatives, was divorced, and of no fixed abode. ... native of Cumberland and in addition to the original sentence of eight years imposed for shopbreaking and larceny, was serving 660 days for attempted escape in December 1950. He broke a leg while climbing a prison wall and was sent to Dartmoor, returning to Parkhurst in 1953."
