Isle of Wight County Press – 27 October 1962 – CARISBROOKE – The Late Miss E. M. Grix. – The funeral takes place today at St. Mary’s Parish Church of Miss Emma Mary Grix, B.E.M., aged 82, who died in a Shanklin nursing home on Wednesday. Miss Grix came to live in the Island with her niece, Mrs. W. R. Smart, of 20 Alvington Road, about 10 years ago. She had since been a devout worshipper at the parish church. Miss Grix was in the telegraph service at Leeds, and on her retirement as supervisor on completion of 42 years’ service was awarded the British Empire Medal. Interment will be at Carisbrooke cemetery in the grave of her sister, who died in 1951.
