Hampshire Advertiser - 14 October 1865 - NEWPORT - DEATH OF A PLOUGH BOY THROUGH A KICK FROM A COLT. - On Tuesday Mr. F. Blake, coroner, held an inquest at Cridmore Farm, on view of the body of Walter Henry Rolf, aged 12 years, who died on Sunday night from the effects of a kick from a colt, on the farm, on the previous Thursday. Mr. Jas. White, the farmer, and some of his men gave evidence as to the accident. It appeared that the mother of the colt was suckling it in the stable, and the deceased incautiously got within reach of the colt’s heels. Mr. H. Lynch, surgeon, who attended deceased, said death ensued from inflammation of the bladder and intestines, which the kick would be likely to produced. Verdict, “Accidental death.”
