IWCP - 7 January 1899 - Newport - DEATH OF MISS MASTERS. - A well known and much esteemed resident in the person of Miss Charlotte Masters passed away on New Year's Day after many years of suffering, at the age of 78. The deceased lady will be remembered throughout the Island as the proprietress for many years of an excellent private scholastic establishment for girls in Quay-street. She was highly cultivated and evidenced large sympathies which brought her into friendship with high and low. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon at Newport Cemetery, the Vicar (Rev. H. Edmund Sharpe) officiating.
