Isle of Wight County Press - 21 February 1953 - NEWPORT - The Late Miss G. M. Amies. - The death occurred on Sunday of Miss Gertrude May Amies, 45, of 76 Linden Road, and formerly of St. John's Road. She was the daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. J. Amies, and had suffered from ill-health for some time. She was an old pupil of the Church of England Girl's School. She went to India at the age of 21, and came back to Newport in 1939. Miss Amies attended St. John's Church, where the funeral was held yesterday, followed by cremation at Southampton.
