Portsmouth Evening News - 4 August 1906 - NEWPORT - The funeral of the late Mr. Samuel Leigh, aged 83, the last survivor of the old school of shipping carriers of Newport, took place at Carisbrooke Cemetery on Friday afternoon. Deceased was for nearly half a century the host of the 'Royal Oak' public-house, the license of which has been in the same family for about a century.
