Isle of Wight County Press - 16 January 1915 - NEWPORT - DEATH OF MR. JOHN SHEATH. - A well-known and highly esteemed tradesman passed away early on Tuesday morning, in the person of Mr. John Sheath, corn and meal merchant, of Nodehill. The deceased, who was 64 years of age, had borne a long and trying illness with admirable cheerfulness and fortitude. The end came rather unexpectedly, and very sincere sympathy is felt with the widow and family in their great loss. Previous to starting business on his own account, Mr. Sheath was in the employ of Messrs. Edwin Way & Co., and both as servant and master he won the respect of all who had dealings with him. He was an old and valued member of the United Methodist Church, of which he was trustee for many years. The funeral takes place to-morrow (Sunday), the service at the United Methodist Church being at 3.0, and a memorial service will take place at 6.30.
