Hampshire Advertiser - 3 April 1869 - Newport - LONGEVITY. – Our obituary records the death of one of the very aged inhabitants of this locality – Mr. John Adams, who had entered his ninety-fifth year. Deceased – a very temperate man in his living, worked very hard as a miller up to the age of 50. Very few of the boys are alive now who rushed to Town-lane after the rich dough-nuts made by the deceased when a young man. It is said that there are two persons still living in this locality who are about the same age as deceased.
