Isle of Wight County Press - 2 February 1907 - NEWPORT - CRIMEAN VETERAN'S DEATH. - The death occurred at the Royal I.W. County Hospital on Friday of Mr. W. Angell, aged 76, a Naval pensioner who had seen a good deal of service in the Navy, having, it is stated, served in the Crimea. He had lost one eye through being struck by lightning on board ship. He resided at Newport. The funeral took place at Newport Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the Vicar of Newport (Rev. H. Edmund Sharpe) officiating.
