Isle of Wight County Press - 16 January 1915 - NEWPORT - SWEET MANUFACTURER'S DEATH. - The death occurred somewhat suddenly on Tuesday at his residence, 63 Pyle-street, of Mr. William Plumley, aged 71, an old and respected tradesman, who practically throughout his life had been a manufacturer of sweets, and his confectionery business carried on for many years opposite the Castlehold Church, was known over most of the Island. The family of Plumley have been associated with this business, with a slight break, for about a century. He gave up the business over a year ago, and had been in failing health for some time. The funeral took place yesterday (Friday) afternoon, the first part of the service being held at St. Thomas's Church.
