QUARTER MASTER OF THE 5TH DEPOT BATTALION.

WITH THE 31ST REGIMENT THROUGHOUT
THE AFGHAN AND SUTLEJ CAMPAIGN
AND WITH THE 93RD REGIMENT
DURING THE WHOLE OF THE CRIMEAN WAR
IN WHICH HE WAS WOUNDED
HAVING IN THE COURSE OF HIS CAREER
BEEN PRESENT IN THIRTY SIX ENGAGEMENTS
AND FOR HIS SERVICES
RECEIVED FOUR MEDALS AND SIX CLASPS
ALSO THE TURKISH ORDER OF THE MEDJIDI
HE DIED HONOURED AS A SOLDIER
AND BELOVED AS A FRIEND
AT PARKHURST BARRACKS, ISLE OF WIGHT
ON THE 24TH MARCH 1860,
AGED 44 YEARS.
