IWCP - 25 April 1942 - Newport - Obituary. - Mr. William Alfred Smy, of Worsley-road, passed away after a short illness in his 72nd year. He was an old soldier of the Suffolk Regiment and served many years abroad. He has a son serving abroad in the same regiment. The funeral was at Carisbrooke Cemetery and Mr. Croucher, of Bethany-hall, conducted the service. Those attending were Mr. R. Smy (widow), Messrs. W., C., and J. Smy. (sons), Mr. and Mrs. Wenham (son-in-law and daughter), Mesdames M., K., and G. Smy (daughters-in-law), P. Smy (grandson), Mr. and Mrs. Cass (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), and Miss D. Hatcher.
