Southern Echo - 20 January 1891 - FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FUNERAL AT NEWPORT - The funeral of Frank Adams, aged 34, (drayman), who died after a short illness, took place at Newport on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was a member of the local Court of Foresters, a large number of whom were in attendance. The officers present included Bro. H. Scott, the C.R., who impressively read the ritual of the Order, Bro. E. Groves, S.C.R., Bro. E. J. Smith (one of the trustees), and Bro. F. Midlane (secretary). There was a painful scene at the Cemetery when Bro. Harburn, a young member of the Court, was overcome by the severe cold, and fell fainting into the arms of the brethren standing by. He was taken to the Cemetery Lodge. The funeral ceremony was conducted by the Rev. J. H. Harradine. Bro. Scott read the first portion of the Foresters' service at the Court room, the Assembly Rooms, Holyrood-street.
