IWCP - 17 January 1891 - NEWPORT - MR. ROBERT CROUCHER - a respected inhabitant of Newport, and especially well-known in the neighbourhood of the Quay as the owner of several trading vessels, died on Tuesday last at the age of 65.IW OBSERVER-24 January 1891-FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR ROBERT CROUCHER. The mortal remains of this well-known shipping carrier were interred in Newport Cemetery on Monday afternoon, amidst signs of esteem and respect. Being one of the senior members of the Earl of Yarborough Lodge of Oddfellows, several of the brethren joined the relatives in paying the last tribute of regard to the memory of the deceased. The first part of the service was conducted at the Bible Christian Chapel, the ministers officiating here and at the Cemetery being the Rev. W.B.Lark, Rev. W.Lowe and the Rev. W.Blake. The Oddfellows' burial service having been impressively read by Br F.Shepard,the members dropped the customary sprig of thyme on the coffin. Deceased was 67 years of age.
