Isle of Wight Observer - 12 June 1880 - Daniel Murray, a private in the 14th Regiment, stationed at Parkhurst, was charged with stealing a pair of boots, the property of Jane Crossin, a widow, who keeps a boot and shoe shop at No. 7, St. Thomas'-square. - He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour.
