IWCP 23 July 1898 - We regret to record the death of Mr. John Taplin of Pyle Street at the age of 54 years. He had an accident a few months earlier after being thrown from a mineral van on the Ryde road. He was well known throughout in Island owing to his position of manager for some 20 years of the mineral water factory formerly belonging to Mr. Hattatt with whom he came to the Island from Southampton and which is now carried on under the style of Messrs. Taplin and Company.
