Hampshire Advertiser – 14 March 1877 – Newport – SUDDEN DEATH. – Yesterday (Tuesday) Mr. F. Blake, coroner, held an inquest on view of the body of John Muffin, pensioner, aged 57, of Barton’s Village, who was found dead in bed on Sunday. Deceased, who had been suffering from paralysis for some years and was confined to his bed, died during the absence of his wife from home on Sunday. Dr. Tuttiett, who was called in, said deceased died from natural causes, probably apoplexy.
