IW Observer - 30 July 1881 - NEWPORT - RIFLE VOLUNTEER FUNERAL. - On Tuesday evening the mortal remains of Private Bernard Johnson, of the Newport Rifle Volunteer corps, were buried in Newport Cemetery with military honours, the band playing the Dead March in Saul. The Odd Fellows' Benefit Society, Manchester Unity, was represented, deceased having been a highly respected member of this society.
