IWCP - 7 January 1928 - Newport - SHIDE MILLER'S DEATH. - The death took place on Saturday of an esteemed resident of the Shide district in the person of Mr. Edmund James Wakely, who was for many years employed as miller at Shide Mill until it was closed down about three years ago. Deceased, who was 76 and had been in failing health for some time, leaves a widow and grown-up family. The funeral took place at the Parish Church on Wednesday, the service being conducted by the Rev. Canon C. H. Thompson. The interment was at Carisbrooke [sic] Cemetery. Messrs. H. and F. Damp made the arrangements.
