Isle of Wight County Press - 3 November 1928 - NEWPORT - OBITUARY. - Sincere sympathy is felt with Mr. J. W. Scovell, of East-street, formerly kennel manager to the I.W. Hunt at Marvel, in the death of his wife, which took place with painful suddenness on Monday in her 73rd year. Mrs. Scovell was a member of the congregation of the Wesleyan Church, and was much esteemed. The funeral took place on Thursday, the interment being at Newport Cemetery following a service at the Wesleyan Church, conducted by the Rev. A. W. Coulson. The mourners were Mr. J. W. Scovell (husband), Messrs. B., F., and A. Scocvell (sons), Mr. and Mrs. G. Williams (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. H. Scovell (daughter-in-law), Messrs. G. Cooper, jun., and F. Chiverton (nephews), Mr. E. Saunders, and a number of friends and neighbours. There were over 30 beautiful floral tributes. Mr. O. C. Hamilton made the arrangements.
