IWCP - 27 April 1929 - NEWPORT - DEATH OF MRS. PICKERING. - The death occurred on Friday week at her residence, Westdene, of Mrs. Harriett Susan Pickering. The deceased, who was 85, was the widow of the Rev. P. G. U. Pickering, for many years chaplain at the Workhouse and a leading local Freemason, who died in 1909. The funeral service took place at the Parish Church on Tuesday, the Rev. H. S. Footman officiating, and the interment following at Newport Cemetery. The mourners were the Misses P. Sullock (god-daughter), M. Fisher (niece), N. Footman, Elger, and F. Nolan, Mesdames Lett (Ryde) and Walters (Sandown), and Mr. W. Upward (representing Messrs. Roach Pittis and Co.). Other friends were present in the church and there were a number of floral tributes. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. H. and F. Damp.
