IWCP - 28 January 1933 - NEWPORT - DEATH OF CEMENT WORKS EMPLOYEE. - The death of Mr. Arthur White, of 1a Pyle-street, who had been the respected night foreman at the Vectis Cement Works for nearly 30 years, occurred on Friday week, after a short illness. The funeral service was held in the Congregational Church on Wednesday, the Rev. D. Hendy Davies officiating, the interment following at Newport Cemetery. The mourners were Messrs. D. A., R., and M. White (sons), P. White, of Bournemouth (brother), Bruce Clark, P. Boxall, and L. Ward (sons-in-law), J. Jackman, of East Cowes (brother-in-law), and Norman Clark (grandson). Among many beautiful floral tributes were two from the Cement Works, one from the staff and the other from the workmates of the deceased.
