Isle of Wight County Press - 1 June 1935 - NEWPORT - WIDOW'S LONELY DEATH. The death occurred with tragic suddenness on Sunday of Mrs. Frances Fanny Jeffery, of 46 South-street. Deceased, who was 78 years old, had resided alone since the death of her husband four years ago. She was apparently in good health at about 10.45 a.m. on Sunday, but about an hour and a half later, when Mrs. McCoy, a neighbour, went to take the old lady her dinner as usual, she found Mrs. Jeffery dead in her chair. A post-mortem revealed that death was due to natural causes and an inquest was dispensed with.
