Isle of Wight County Press - 7 May 1938 - NEWPORT - The Death - occurred on Saturday at the Royal I.W. County Hospital, Ryde, of Violet Margaret Evelyn Wedge, the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Wedge, of 24 Drake-road. Mr. Wedge is a County Court bailiff and well known as a former drum major of the 2nd Hampshire Regiment, and is now a bandsman in the 189th Batt. Princess Beatrice's (I.W. Rifles) Heavy Brigade, R.A. (T.A.). The funeral took place on Wednesday, the Rev. W. H. Mackinnon officiating at the service in St. John's Church and at Newport Cemetery. The mourners were Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Wedge (parents), Messrs. William, Frank, and Cyril Wedge and Miss Audrey Wedge (brothers and sister(, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wedge, Mr. T. Channell, and Miss Holliday (incle and aunts). The wreaths included one from all ranks of the 189th Battery, I.W. Heavy Brigade.
