Isle of Wight County Press - 22 October 1938 - NEWPORT - The Death - occurred on Friday week of Mr. Thomas David Cooper, aged 79, of 13 Crocker-street, whose health had been failing for some weeks. A native of Newport, he had been employed for years on vessels using the Medina, but had to retire some years ago owing to a bad attack of sunstroke. He is survived by his widow and three daughters : Messrs. H. E. Croucher and H. Lower conducted the funeral service at the house and at Newport Cemetery on Monday. The mourners were Mesdames G. Dobson, N. Black, and D. Dempsey (daughters), Messrs. G. Dobson and D. Dempsey (sons-in-law). Mr. T. Cooper (grandson), Mr. W. Cooper, of Cowes, and Mr. W. Cooper, of Newport (nephews), and Mrs. William Cooper. The arrangements were made by Mr. H. W. Parnell.
